The teaching team for IFN612 are Kathleen Smeaton and Katya Henry.
Kathleen is an educator and practitioner in information science. Her previous experience in academic libraries focused around many of the same issues as her teaching, giving Kathleen real world experience to draw upon. Kathleen’s previous research has focused on the social media use of libraries as well as information experiences of users, both on and offline. Her main research interest is examining the way marginalised groups experience online information.
Katya is a Project Officer at State Library of Queensland, working with community groups to create digital collections commemorating the First World War Centenary. She is passionate about open access, and is very excited to be working on SLQ’s open data strategy. Katya is also a Sessional Academic and Research Assistant with the Information Studies Group, and has worked for several years at QUT Library. The Peckham Library in South London changed her life.
There are a variety of ways to contact the teaching team.
In the first instance we would ask that you use the unit site or Twitter to ask any questions as many questions that you have may be able to answered by your peers, or may be questions that your peers want answers to as well.
If you have something private that you would like to discuss with the teaching team please Kathleen at firstname.lastname@example.org
